The historic Inns of Connecticut are defined as houses that provided overnight accommodations to travelers hundreds of years ago. The current owners continue to provide the services that these historic homes were built upon.

The historic Bed & Breakfasts of Connecticut were once a home dating back hundreds of years ago. The current owners of these establishments converted the home to provide a cozy and tranquil environment by offering food and overnight accommodations to their patrons.

Taverns & Inns were and continue to be a combination of the two. Like Inns, these businesses provided overnight accommodations, but also provided food for travelers without the necessity of overnight accommodations.

The historic Restaurants of Connecticut are historic buildings (such as an old mill or post office) that have been converted into a restaurant.
